Technical Web Development Project Manager

We are looking for a technical project manager with at least 5 years of experience in managing the technical aspects of complex web development projects and working with all website production departments including design, UI/UX, development, outside contractors, and project teams.

The ideal candidate must have next-level organization skills to keep projects on track and on budget. They should be able to not only communicate effectively with clients to understand their needs but must be able to communicate those needs to all departments involved in that client’s website build. Multitasking should be second nature to our ideal candidate. We are looking for the perfect candidate to manage multiple projects and delegate the work to the right teams, monitoring all projects every step of the way from initial discovery to launch while managing the budgets for each project.

Our new technical project manager must be able to effectively work with our teams and troubleshoot any and all issues that may arise during a website build. They must understand the technical aspects of website development and be able to communicate with developers. The understanding of how long a technical task should take is key for keeping projects on budget and time.

Skills and Experience

  • Website Development Savvy, Project Management, Planning, Verbal Communication, Written Communication, Process Improvement, Analyzing Information, Reporting Skills, and Problem Solving.
  • Must have experience in a web development life cycle and management of all work and scope budgets.
  • Worked with clients on projects, scopes, and knowing when and how to ask clients for additional information and budget when required.
  • Must be proficient in Google Suite including Gmail, Google Calendar, Sheets, and Slides.
  • Must know how to use MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio).
  • WordPress knowledge is required.
  • Experience using, a project management tool, is a plus.

Job Responsibilities

  • Participate in the initial conception stage along with a client in order to better meet the needs of the customer and to translate those expectations to employees.
  • Design website solutions for customer challenges or stated website goals related to online commerce, corporate identity, lead generation, or other needs.
  • Establishes website project scope and communicates that scope to all stakeholders; discovering and validating technical requirements and parameters. Must be able to recognize client demands outside of original scope and adjust timelines and costs accordingly with client communication and approval.
  • Work collaboratively with clients and account executives to set project expectations, gather content and other needed resources, and keep all stakeholders updated on project progress.
  • Oversee all website teams from onboarding to launch.
  • Develop web solutions by formulating objectives; planning project life-cycle deliverables and resource availability and application
  • Keep all budgets on track. Closely monitor time and expenses; implementing cost-saving actions as needed.
  • Provide project status reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing project updates.
  • Provide quality assurance testing for all website builds as part of our team.
  • Update job knowledge by tracking technology advances; participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks.

    Mid-Level WordPress and Digital Designer

    Geek Town USA, a digital agency located in Farmington Hills, MI, seeks a WordPress and digital designer with at least an intermediate level of experience who will work closely with our Creative Director and Development Team to accomplish tasks related to website projects and digital advertising campaigns. If you’re a seasoned WordPress website creator and designer, we invite you to apply! To be hired, you must be available to work in our Farmington Hills office up to 5 days a week, Monday-Friday.

    We are NOT looking for graphic designers or full-stack / backend developers at this time.

    To excel at this position, our ideal candidate:

    • Works comfortably within the WordPress CMS environment on complex projects, from installation, configuration, adding functionality with plugins, building, and styling pages, through QA and launch.
    • Can log in to a WordPress dashboard and troubleshoot or make content changes using HTML, shortcodes, or popular page builders with little to  assistance
    • Possesses great attention to detail and feels comfortable asking questions in order to gather a full comprehension of task requirements
    • Can work under occasional tight deadlines and a fast-paced environment
    • Can translate branding documents such as a style guide into new designs or layouts, adhering to the design principles set forth within
    • Fosters an adaptive and proactive attitude toward professional growth and development, leading to the ability to take on more responsibilities over time

    Duties & Responsibilities

    • Design mockups of web pages for client approval, using Adobe XD
    • Design page templates ready to be used by the development team
    • Update web pages with content including text and images
    • Create new web pages using a page builder UI, styled to match the existing website
    • Create landing pages to be used for paid media campaigns
    • Design display ads for digital and social ad campaigns
    • Design social media graphics, including cover and post images
    • Design logos and create brand kit documents for clients

    Skills & Qualifications


    • High level of experience (4+ years) with the WordPress CMS platform, with the ability to customize websites using child themes and editing using page builders (specifically, Elementor, Divi, and WP Bakery Page Builder)
    • Moderate level of front-end development knowledge and experience with modern front-end technologies (2+ years): HTML5, CSS, Bootstrap
    • Adobe Creative Suite: XD, Photoshop, Illustrator
    • Google Apps: Docs, Sheets, Slides
    • Image manipulation skills include resizing, background removal, working with paths and masks, basic photo touching up, file size optimization
    • File-Sharing: Google Drive, Dropbox
    • Communication Tools: Slack, Zoom, Google Meet
    • Microsoft Office: Word, Powerpoint, Excel

    Optional, But Preferred

    • Bonus points for Javascript/React


    Degree or certification in a related field preferred.
